Many people claim to be proponents of color; few actually embrace it without hesitation. That interior designer Rayman Boozer found such an ardent advocate in his client Misti Bridges resulted in a collaboration made in Pantone heaven. "She had a vision and has great taste," says Boozer, referring to the transformation that Bridges and her husband, Stephen Jordan, enacted in their light-filled Manhattan family home. "The best clients are the people who have a point of view."

Bridges's perspective included updating the aesthetic of their three-bedroom, three-bath apartment so that it felt of-the-moment but also comfortable for their two daughters, Carolina, 10, and Lexi Anne, 8. To start, Boozer reconfigured the main living space, playing with the layout to make it more conducive for gathering. He landed on an open plan off the kitchen alcove, adding built-in bookcases for additional storage and a cantilevered bench to provide casual seating for larger groups. "It's important for people to be able to flow and walk around," Boozer says. He installed copper Tom Dixon lighting pendants above the dining area and new frames around the windows, as well as streamlined the molding and replaced the flooring for a cleaner look.

Boozer next set his sights on the color scheme, converting some of the existing accent walls—including a lime-green surface in the bedroom and a butter-yellow partition in the entry hall—to varying shades of blue for a more cohesive look. "It's kind of my signature," he says of the serene hue, which he supplemented with bursts of berry and jewel tones in the main living spaces. "I wanted to make the home feel like spring and summer with a very friendly color story." So the dining space was recast in a rich cobalt, the living room was covered in a periwinkle tint, and the master suite strikes a moodier note in a midnight hue. The attention to palette carried through to the wallpaper—from the whimsical spheres in Lexi Anne's room to the washed-out ikat in the entry—which add subtle dimension without competing with the vibrant color on display. The result is what Boozer and Bridges call "optimistic," an irrepressible antidote to the proverbial concrete jungle.

In the New York City living room of Misti Bridges and Stephen Jordan, designer Rayman Boozer created a rainbow-bright palette of blues and berries. "I think blue is really pretty because it's the color of the sky, and you see it in nature," he says. "I wanted to make the home feel like spring and summer with a very friendly color story." The custom-made Duralee sofa acts as a neutral base for a pair of Crate and Barrel chairs upholstered in a velvet fabric by Designtex; the wall color is Windmill Wings by Benjamin Moore.
